Stillwater Bridge, Crown & Implant Experts

About The Procedure

There have been incredible advances in solutions for tooth loss and tooth reconstruction. A crown is the best choice for a tooth that has broken, is extensively decayed, or has a previously restored large filling. Once termed a “cap,” a crown is a prosthesis that covers the existing natural tooth. In our Stillwater restorative dental office, we operate a new technology for crowns. This eliminates the need for a temporary crown and having to come back for an additional appointment. Now, our dentists and assistants can prep your tooth, design your crown from digital scans, and place the permanent crown within the same day! Sometimes, a lab crown will still be necessary and require two appointments.

Conventional Bridges

Bridges are a conventional way to replace a missing tooth. Two appointments are required for bridges. First, the teeth on either side of the missing tooth are prepared for crowns, and a temporary bridge is made to cover the prepped teeth. During the second appointment, the custom-made bridge is fitted and adjusted. When the adjustments are complete, the bridge is cemented into place.

Veneers and Implants

The consideration of veneers is an additional restorative and cosmetic option. Veneers from our Stillwater restorative dental office are very thin porcelain facings that can be bonded to your teeth without removing your natural tooth structure. In addition, shade, tooth shape, and unsightly spaces can be corrected using veneers.

Dental implants are becoming more and more popular for replacing a missing tooth. This procedure is more complicated and requires appointments with our Stillwater dental implant specialist, an oral surgeon, or a periodontist, who surgically places the implant in the bone above the missing tooth. After the implant is positioned, approximately three to six months of healing will be necessary before the tooth is ready for the final implant crown. Follow-up evaluations with the specialist occur during that period. We work closely with your specialist during this time. When the specialist deems the implant site is ready, the patient returns to our office and has two appointments for the final implant-supported crown.

Deciding what treatment is proper for you can sometimes be a difficult decision. Finances may play a part in your decision. Our experienced doctors and staff at our Stillwater-based restorative dental office are here to inform, educate, and help you make the right choice for you.
